GIUSEPPE VERDI Luisa Miller Based on the tragedy of Schiller Kabale und Liebe libretto by Salvadore Cammarano, Luisa Miller sketches a romantically intimate and tormented story. The work, staged for the first time on 8 December 1849, carefully recounts the many nuances of the stormy “true story of two unhappy lovers”, Rodolfo and Luisa. Since the overture, Verdi leaves no doubt as to how the protagonist and his beloved are: love, desperate or fervid, prevails over hatred and indignation.
