The Liszt Institute was founded in 1997 in order to promote the figure and work of the composer Franz Liszt both in the field of musicological research and in that of interpretation. The library-archive of the Institute is the richest in Italy on Liszt, in particular for the collections of autograph letters of the composer; it also includes an important part dedicated to romantic music and the musical life of Bologna in the 19th century. The permanent exhibition on Bologna and Liszt can be visited in the headquarters of the foundation. The concerts take place mainly in the Institute premises on a Steinway Grand Coda piano from 1860.
