Wiki Loves Monuments: also pictures of Bologna on the podium of the competition.
The City of Bologna, which joined the Wiki Loves Monuments photo competition for promoting the Italian cultural heritage on Wikipedia, welcomes the news that a picture of Bologna (Neptune Fountain, taken by the student Giacomo Barbaro) was placed tenth.

Thanks to two "postcards" from Ferrara and Bologna Emilia Romagna on the podium of Wiki Loves Monuments
Thanks to an original photo of the the City Theatre of Ferrara and an evocative image of the Neptune Fountain in Bologna, the region was placed third and tenth in the 2012 edition of "Wiki Loves Monuments", a photo competition organized for the first time in Italy to promote the Italian cultural heritage on Wikipedia (www.wikilovesmonuments.it). The prize-giving ceremony took place in Rome last Wednesday. More than 7,800 photos were sent from all over the country between 1st and 30th September; from these 592 got through to the finals and 30% came from Emilia Romagna: Andrea Parisi from Copparo (Ferrara) was placed third thanks to his picture of the City Theatre of Ferrara, while the student Giacomo Barbaro and his photo of Neptune in Bologna were placed tenth. Emilia Romagna deserved also Special Mentions thanks to the Portici (covered walkways) of Bologna taken by Franco Bresolin and the Estense Castle in Ferrara photographed by Erika Poltronieri. More than 400 tourist attractions of Emilia Romagna took part in the event, an original and innovative example of tourism and cultural promotion on the web, as shown by the over 160.000 images collected in only two years of the Competition and coming from 18 countries.
