GIORGIO MORANDI IN KOREA: EXHIBITION OF BOLOGNA'S ARTIST MASTERPIECES IN SEOUL UNTIL 25th FEBRUARY
The National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art of Deoksugung in Seoul in Korea together with the Istituzione Bologna Musei | Museo Morandi organise an exhibition dedicated to Giorgio Morandi. The exhibition will be inaugurated the 19th November and will be open to visitors from the 20th November 2014 until the 25th February 2015. For the first time, an important number of Bologna's artist masterpieces will be exposed in Asia. The exhibition presents main thematic groups of the Morandi Museum collections and it confirms an intense interest and constant studies all over the world dedicated to one of the most significant figures of the XXth century art.
The project of the exhibition makes part of a larger programme of culture exchanges between cities of Bologna and Seoul within their long traditional economic and institutional relationship and within the celebration of 130 years of diplomatic relations between Italy and Korea. The Comune di Bologna and the City of Seoul wanted to celebrate this anniversary by signing a special convention of more intense bilateral cooperation and relationship.
The Morandi Museum brings in Korea 6 paintings, 5 watercolours, 6 drawings, 5 engravings, 4 masterpieces of private collections and some of original objects from Casa Morandi (Morandi's house), for example the paper nap from his working table with drawings of objects he was using for his still life paintings.
The exhibition presents also works of Korean artists inspired by Morandi. “The Morandi's dust” (“La polvere di Morandi”), a documentary film turned by Mario Chemello and produced by Imago Orbis in collaboration with Morandi Museum and the Film Commission of Emilia Romagna, brings a further enrichment about the life and poetics of Bologna's artist.
