The Plains
Also this year the Persicetani Astrofili Group proposes the traditional observation event on the occasion of the "Lacrime di S.Lorenzo". The Planetarium, the Observatory and the large surrounding natural park will remain open to allow the public to observe the sky with the guidance of the volunteers of the association. The Perseids are a meteor shower that the Earth finds itself to cross during the summer period in crossing its orbit around the Sun. The meteoric rain is manifested from the end of July until beyond the 20 August. The culmination of the phenomenon is expected this year for the night between August 12th and 13th with an average of about a hundred light trails observed with the naked eye every hour (in conditions of perfect darkness, well away from light pollution that characterizes our lowland skies).
