To celebrate the 50th anniversary of 1968 student protest movement, MEUS – Museo Europeo degli Studenti, dedicates an exhibition to this theme. The exhibition is linked to the planetary expansion of the student movement which began to a series of protests and claims, developed in parallel outside the University.
The movement, originally born in the mid-sixties in the United States in opposition to racial discrimination and the war in Vietnam, reached its maximum expansion in 1968 in Western Europe, with its peak in the French May.
Even if the Universities were the place where the movement was born, the student protest came out very fast from university’s campuses and reached workplaces, cities, cultural institutions and other places. Documents, books, photos and videos presented in the exhibition intend to give an account for the extraordinary territorial extension reached by the protest, involving various social contexts.
