"Bologna from that moment was free" is an event with a lot of spectacular events which retrace the period of Austrian domination 1848-1859. Over two hundred and fifty reenactors, figurants and dancers in nineteenth-century costumes will stage facts, battles and splits of everyday life in 19th-century Bologna, expressions of the history of the territory and of the Italian Risorgimento, with historical reenactments between the squares and streets of the city . The places of that time will be transformed into a theater of memory, to commemorate the battle of the Montagnola fought between Austrians and Bolognesi, the shooting of Father Ugo Bassi, and the city celebrations recalled with the Grand Ball of the Unity of Italy and the flashmob of the tricolor in front at the Palazzo d'Accursio. It is part of Bologna Estate 2019, the activity program promoted and coordinated by the Comune of Bologna and the Metropolitan City of Bologna - Tourist Destination.
