As one of the most modern and important National Galleries appreciated abroad, in the thirty exhibition rooms, the Pinacoteca collects: fundamental artists such as Giotto, Raffaello or Tiziano; fine examples of Bolognese and Emiliana art; Flemish and Byzantine artists.

The picture gallery Zambeccari is now one of the most important collections of Bologna. Here there are works of the masters of the emiliana school such as Lodovico Carracci, Guercino, Albani, Crespi, Passerotti, Tiarini, Mastelletta, Franceschini, Pasinelli and Creti.

The original core of the "Raccolta Lercaro" dates back to 1971, when four artists from Bologna (Aldo Borgonzoni, Pompilio Mandelli, Enzo Pasqualini, Ilario Rossi) donated some of their works to Cardinal Giacomo Lercaro (1891-1976), Archbishop Emeritus of Bologna, on the occasion of his eightieth birthday.

Collezione di Geologia "Giovanni Capellini"

The Geological Museum  “Giovanni Capellini” was created in 1860 thanks to the geological and the palaeontological finds from the collections of naturalist  Ulisse Aldrovandi (1522-1605),  marquis Ferdinando Cospi (1606-1686) and  military general Luigi Ferdinando Marsili (1658-1730).
