Path of Gods

The Via degli Dei (Path of Gods) is a hiking path that connects the cities of Bologna and Florence across theTuscan-Emilian Apennines. Even though it was traced recently, its origins are ancient.

Parco di Villa Ghigi

The park is located on the first hill slopes south of the city, just outside Porta San Mamolo. It has a surface of approx. 28 hectares.

Rocchetta Mattei

The castle Rocchetta Mattei (literally "small fortress Mattei") is situated in the mountan chain of the Apennines between Tuscany and Emilia Romagna. It is 45 km away from Bologna, on the SS.64 (road) that links Bologna to Porretta Terme, just after the town of Riola, in the municipality of Grizzana Morandi.
It was built by the Count Cesare Mattei (1809-1896) on the remains of an ancient medieval castle that belonged to Matilde di Canossa (a.k.a. Matilda of Tuscany).

Oasi La Rizza

After being a swamp and a rice paddy, the Ex Risaia di Bentivoglio, also known as Oasi la Rizza, was declared aprotected natural area at the end of the 1990s.

Giardini Margherita

It is the largest and certainly the most popular city park. It was designed by the Piedmontese Sambuy  to provide Bologna with an ample green and public place as in other Italian and European cities. It was opened in 1879 with the name of “Passeggio Regina Margherita” ( as a tribute to the wife of King Umberto I).

Navile Cycling track

It is a tourist cycling route of about 6 km, which stretches along the banks of the Navile, a historical artificial canal of about 40 km, built between the late 1100s and early 1200s, which linked Bologna to Venice

This hiking trail between Tuscany to Emilia-Romagna offers the cultural heritage of the cities of Bologna and Prato, and the beauty of a mountainous terrain, rich in fine traditions.
