Municipal Ancient Art Collection

The museum's venues at Palazzo d'Accursio are closed due to works of restoration. From November 18th, 2012 Museo Morandi is temporarily hosted at MAMbo,  Bologna Modern Art Gallery, via Don Minzoni 14, where paintings, graphic works and book heritage have been reorganized with a new exhibition path.

Besides MAMbo (Modern Art Gallery), Museo Morandi (Morandi Museum), Villa delle Rose (Gallery) and the Museum dedicated to Ustica, the Istituzione Galleria D'Arte Moderna di Bologna (Institution of Modern Art Gallery of Bologna) has got a new space: the house where Morandi lived and worked almost all his life.

The Museum for the Memory of Ustica, realized by Christian Boltanski, was created through the dedication of Association for Relatives of the Victims of Ustica.

International Museum and Library of Music

The museum is housed on the ground floor of the prestigious Bargellini Palace, designed by the architect Bartolomeo Provaglia and begun in 1638.

Opened on May 9th, 1999, the Jewish Museum of Bologna (MEB, Museo Ebraico di Bologna) was established with the aim of preserving, studying and promoting the rich cultural Jewish heritage deeply rooted in Bologna as well as other places in Emilia Romagna.

Palazzo Fava, Exhibition Centre, covering more than 2600 square metres, is regularly used as an exhibition centre. Its rooms house collections from the Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio in Bologna as well as exhibitions of works from other important public and private collections.

The complex of Santa Maria della Vita (where you can see the wonderful "Compianto del Cristo Morto" made by Nicolò dell'Arca), is one of the most important baroque monuments in Bologna and it is evidence of the old activity of the Battuti's Confraternity.

Ancient Picture Gallery

The original nucleus of the "Raccolta Lercaro" dates back to 1971, when four artists from Bologna (Aldo Borgonzoni, Pompilio Mandelli, Enzo Pasqualini,Ilario Rossi) donated some of their works to Cardinal Giacomo Lercaro (1891-1976), Archbishop Emeritus of Bologna, on the occasion of his eightieth birthday.

Founded in 1814, the Museum contains various specimens, skeletons and systematic collections connected with this subject.

The first nucleus of the museum dates from 1908, the year in which the chair of anthropology was established in Bologna.

The Museum was founded in 1860, the date in which the Cabinet of Natural History of the Institute of Sciences was subdivided into the three sections of Mineralogy, Geology and Zoology.

Part of the Corpus Domini Church, the museum preserves the seated and holy body of Saint Catherine De' Vigri (1413-1463).

The Benedictine monastery give holds permanent holy vestments and shrines, paintings and frescos of the school of Bologna, Veneto and Tuscany between 13th and 18th century.

San Domenico was born in Caleruga (Spain) around 1170, and died in Bologna on the 6th August 1221.
