This building was originally used as a salt warehouse but between 1783 and 1785 a new store was built.

During the Middle Ages Po river and Reno river were the principal ways for the trade of salt.

This area is now called “Manifattura delle Arti” because of the presence of Cineteca (film library), University and MAMbo (museum of modern art).
