Museums and art galleries
The museum's venues at Palazzo d'Accursio are closed due to works of restoration. From November 18th, 2012 Museo Morandi is temporarily hosted at MAMbo, Bologna Modern Art Gallery, via Don Minzoni 14, where paintings, graphic works and book heritage have been reorganized with a new exhibition path.
Besides MAMbo (Modern Art Gallery), Museo Morandi (Morandi Museum), Villa delle Rose (Gallery) and the Museum dedicated to Ustica, the Istituzione Galleria D'Arte Moderna di Bologna (Institution of Modern Art Gallery of Bologna) has got a new space: the house where Morandi lived and worked almost all his life.
Modern Art Gallery
The museum is housed on the ground floor of the prestigious Bargellini Palace, designed by the architect Bartolomeo Provaglia and begun in 1638.
City Museum of Risorgimento
Heart of Genus Bononiae, Palazzo Pepoli. Museo della Storia di Bologna (Museum of the history of Bologna) houses a museum dedicated to the history, culture and transformations of Bologna, from the ‘Felsina etrusca’ to modern times.
Palazzo Fava, Exhibition Centre, covering more than 2600 square metres, is regularly used as an exhibition centre. Its rooms house collections from the Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio in Bologna as well as exhibitions of works from other important public and private collections.
The complex of Santa Maria della Vita (where you can see the wonderful "Compianto del Cristo Morto" made by Nicolò dell'Arca), is one of the most important baroque monuments in Bologna and it is evidence of the old activity of the Battuti's Confraternity.
The original nucleus of the "Raccolta Lercaro" dates back to 1971, when four artists from Bologna (Aldo Borgonzoni, Pompilio Mandelli, Enzo Pasqualini,Ilario Rossi) donated some of their works to Cardinal Giacomo Lercaro (1891-1976), Archbishop Emeritus of Bologna, on the occasion of his eightieth birthday.
Museo della Comunicazione "Mille voci...mille suoni" Museo Storico della Radio, dei Grammofoni, del Cinema e degli strumenti musicali meccanici (1760-1960)
Historical exposition of Radio, Phonography and the musical mechanical machines of the 18th and 19th centuries.
The museum is made up of 5 multimedial scenes where the visitor becomes the protagonist. All special effects accompany the public in all scenes and allow an experience of complete immersion and let live again those tragic days that brought to the end of the 2nd World War.
