The art and history library is located in the ex church of San Giorgio in Poggiale and holds the book heritage of Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio in Bologna, a newspaper library and a photo archive. In the library there are ancient and modern books, manuscripts, incunabulum and edicts.

The new project Genus Bononiae Network - Libri, armonie, immagini aims at digitizing books and documents about the history of Bologna in order to create a virtual library.

Moreover, thanks to an agreement with the local institutions and European cultural centers, many original and unpublished music papers will be available on line.
