The Art Cities of Emilia Romagna join the 5th edition of the international photo competition Wiki Loves Monuments whose aim is to promote the local cultural and tourist resources, coordinated by Wikimedia Italia - wikilovesmonuments.wikimedia.it. Citizens and tourists are invited to take outdoor pictures of the monuments of their territory and to share them on the site Wikimedia Commons. The aim is to document the rich local history with a large number of images, in order to promote their circulation on the Net and expecially on Wikipedia (today the fifth most visited site in the world), licensed under Creative Commons CC-BY-SA.
The competition is running from September 1st to 30th, 2016 in Italy and in more than 30 countries around the world.
The 2016 edition of Wiki Loves Monuments has 2 specific contests for the regional photos of Emilia Romagna: 1 - The national contest of Wikimedia Italia (1-30 September wikilovesmonuments.wikimedia.it) 2 - The special award “I Monumenti stellati dell’Emilia Romagna”(The starred monuments in Emilia Romagna), promoted by APT Servizi, Unione di Prodotto Città d’Arte, Cultura e Affari, regional MIBACT and Touring Club Italiano. This contest is dedicated to the most important cultural and artistic places in the Region, marked with an asterisk in the Guida d'Italia, the legendary guide "Rossa"(red guide) published by Touring Club Italiano.
