The Museo Nazionale del Soldatino (National Museum of the Toy Soldier), in cooperation with the Museo Civico Medievale (Medieval Museum), organizes a memorial exhibition for the 200th anniversary of the battle of Waterloo.
The exhibition, curated by Andrea Ventura, Director of the National Museum of the Toy Soldier, wants to retrace through a rich material composed of soldiers, dioramas, iconographic material, period uniforms, fur hats, swords, sabers and various accessories, the different stages before the battle (called Mont Saint-Jean by the French), which saw the seventh Coalition, led by the Duke of Wellington, to oppose the French army that Napoleon was able to form in a few months.
Toy soldiers representing every department from both sides will be exposed, coming not only from the Museum of the Toy Soldier, but also from several private collections.
During the exhibition, on Saturday and Sunday, workshops for children and young people will be organized, with the presence of champions of the painting world, who will show the techniques to paint the toy soldiers.
