in remembrance of innocent victims of mafia

Bologna, 21 March 2015

 

On Saturday, March 21st a long parade will be going through Bologna   to commemorate the 20th Memory and Commitment Day in remembrance of innocent victims of mafia, promoted by Associazione Libera and Avviso Pubblico.
Over 900 innocent victims, such as citizens, judges, journalists, policemen, priests, businessmen, politicians, local administrators, all died because they had done their duty with rigour and coherence.

The parade leaves from Stadio Dall’Ara (via Andrea Costa 174) at 9.30 am. This is the route: Via Andrea Costa, Via Sant’Isaia, Via Barberia, Via Carbonesi, Via Farini, Piazza Galvani, Via Archiginnasio, Piazza Maggiore, Piazza Nettuno, Via Indipendenza, Via Irnerio.
Arrival is expected at 11.30am in Piazza VIII Agosto. In the afternoon. from 2.30pm themed workshops, theatre performances and cinema showings are also scheduled (read the day programme - in Italian).
 
This year, in accordance with associations of the victims’ families, the commemoration will also involve the victims of the massacre at Bologna Railway Station on August 2nd, 1980 and of Ustica disaster on June 27th, 1980, both celebrating their 35th anniversary, and of  Sebrenica genocide at its 20th anniversary.

In the week preceding the parade of March 21st, Bologna will become a real “citadel of legality” by proposing many initiatives both in Piazza Maggiore and in Piazza XX Settembre (read more – in Italian).
