Cineteca di Bologna Quentin Tarantino's new film The Hateful Eight in 70mm in.

The past, present and future of experiencing cinema. A film archive embodies this long history - a history that after over 120 years is not about to abandon the material that is its very essence: film.
At a time when digitalization seems the inevitable direction of technology, there is a history made of film prints that film archives conserve, protect from decay, restore and give back to contemporary audiences, including via digital distribution. Like never before, today viewers have access to a wealth of film prints that despite its immeasurable vastness has found salvation in a world undergoing a digital metamorphosis.

With a new movie out by film champion Quentin Tarantino, it was only natural that Cineteca di Bologna would do whatever it would take to put on a masterpiece of viewing pleasure: give audiences the gift of experiencing a film shot and projected in 70mm. In 2016.

Cineteca di Bologna's Cinema Lumière is one of just three theaters in Italy screening the 70mm print along with Cinema Arcadia in Melzo and Cinecittà's Teatro 5 in Rome.
