Race for the Cure - the famous event that aims to raise awareness and funds in support of the fight against breast cancer, is back in Bologna at Giardini Margherita, from 23 to 25 September. The final event is on Sunday morning with the traditional footrace of 5 kilometres (3.1 mi) and the fitness walk of 2 km (1.2 mi) open to everybody. A minimum donation of € 12 is required to take part in the Sunday morning race through the centre of Bologna. The fee includes the exclusive t-shirt of the event (subject to availability), the racing bib and the bag with gifts offered by the partners.
Race for the Cure is dedicated to the Women in pink, women who have experienced breast cancer and - by symbolically wearing the pink t-shirt or cap, want to show that it is possible to survive this disease, Maria Grazia Cucinotta for Komen Italia and Rosanna Banfi for "Donne in Rosa" will be present this year too.
During the three-day event, Giardini Margherita becomes the "Villaggio della Salute" (health village) proposing many initiatives involving families: prevention demo, educational workshops and sports. Besides, a well-equipped play area for children is also available.
Race for the Cure is organized by Susan G. Komen Italia under the patronage of the Italian Republic President, and with the contribution of the national partner Johnson & Johnson, among others.
Race for the Cure di Bologna is sponsored by Regione Emilia-Romagna, Città Metropolitana di Bologna, Comune di Bologna, Università di Bologna AUSL Bologna, Policlinico S.Orsola-Malpighi, CONI and FIDAL, in cooperatiion with Federfarma Bologna, CNA Bologna and UISP.
