A mosey along the Gothic line

Saturday 27 June 2015

A mosey along the Gothic line. A hike to retrace some of the places where 70 years ago the German troops  and the Allied forces had their crucial fighting.
The Gothic line going from the Tyrrhenian sea (Massa Carrara) to the Adriatic sea (Pesaro) was the defensive and fortified line created by the German Field Marshal Albert Kesselring in 1944 trying to slow the advance in the North of Italy of the Allied Armies  commanded by General Harold Alexander. In our region the Gothic line crossed the Apennines along the fortified summits from Monte Castello to Monte Belvedere, through Serra di Ronchidoso.
