7 November 2014 – 3 May 2015

EXTENDED TO MAY 17th, 2015

A new set-up will be welcoming visitors at Museo Morandi from November 7th 2014 to May 3rd 2015. In the year of the 50th anniversary of Giorgio Morandi's death, the exhibition  “Morandi e l'antico: Vitale da Bologna, Barocci, Rembrandt e Crespi” (Morandi and the ancient period: Vitale da Bologna, Barocci, Rembrandt and Crespi) focuses on the painter relationship with ancient art and with some artists he loved and studied.
Some masterpieces of the past by Federico Barocci, Giuseppe Maria Crespi, Rembrandt van Rijn and Vitale da Bologna – ranging from the 15th to the 18th century – will be placed near Morandi's works in a kind of dialogue with his art, thus witnessing how Morandi's modern painting  had found its origin in ancient artists.
These works come from the museums of Istituzione Bologna Musei – Collezioni Comunali d'Arte, Museo Davia Bargellini, Casa Morandi – and from Pinacoteca Nazionale di Bologna.
