Marcello Mondazzi. Via Crucis

12 March - 12 April 2015

Individual stops of the Via Crucis, made by the artist Marcello Mondazzi, are quite original representations in the panorama of the Italian liturgical art both for their focus on the biblical and theological reflection and for the aesthetical researches on the symbolism of each picture.
The artist pays special attention to the use of materials. The expressiveness of the whole cycle is underlined by a particular effect of materials: plastic – methacrylate – transformed with the use of oil, paraffin and fire.

The individual stops are peculiarly articulated to be interpreted as notes of the Jesus Christ journey on gates of Jerusalem and on the Golgotha. The paintings are very discreet and faces are rarely visible.

The whole cycle was made for the Church San Giuseppe Lavoratore in Ponte Taro, near Parma, where it will be located permanently after the end of this exhibition.
