A project by Luca Lanzi for Art City

Collezioni Comunali d'Arte - Palazzo d'Accursio
15 January - 3 April 2016

In a dialogue with the city art collections housed in the museum, Luca Lanzi concentrates his exhibit Eikon in 4 rooms of the total twenty rooms composing the Collezione Comunali d’Arte, and namely in rooms nr. 8, 17, 19 and 20.
The exhibition “Eikon” - taking place contemporary with Art City Bologna, starts in the Sala Urbana (room nr. 17) with the work Totem. It continues in the room 20 dedicated to Pelagio Palagi, where the artist has placed two sculptures of fetishes Ludens and Sauro; in the same room some engravings on paper are on show too. Room 19 is fully devoted to a playful theme, with three drawings of the Doll series, while the closing room nr. 8 hosts the installation Giardino d'inverno (Winter garden), representing the relationship between man and nature.

Therefore, Lanzi’s project doesn’t follow a linear development, but it is inserted in some selected locations, thus aiming to create a connection with artworks of the past, housed in the museum.

Eikon is curated by Sabrina Samorì, and promoted by Istituzione Bologna Musei. The exhibit brochure in Italian and English is also available.

Art City Bologna 2016

ART CITY Bologna is the institutional programme of events born in 2013 as the result of the collaboration between Comune di Bologna and BolognaFiere. Its goal is to create a calendar of side events, exhibitions and cultural initiatives during Arte Fiera, in order to propose new ways for rediscovering the historical and artistic heritage of Bologna through contemporary artists' works. At its 4th edition this year, Art City takes place from January 29th to 31st 2016. Full programme of events is available on the website www.bolognagendacultura.it.
