Celebration of the 100th anniversary of
Italy going into the First World War


A celebratory relay and an exhibit at Giardini Margherita

Over 600 soldiers are engaged as torch-bearers, carrying the Italian flag - symbol of Italy Unification, for 4200 kilometres in 14 days, 24 hours a day without resting and following 5 itineraries along the Italian Peninsula.
L’esercito marciava… (Army was marching…) is the title of this celebratory event which started in Trapani on May 10th and that is going to end on May 24th in Trieste.
The relay will be arriving in Bologna, at Giardini Margherita (piazzale Jacchia) on Thursday, May 21st at 10am, in the special area created by the Comando Regionale dell’Esercito. During the day, an exhibition will present vehicles used by the Italian Army today, as well as vehicles and mementos dating of the First World War. It will be also possible to try climbing the rock artificial wall, assisted by of some alpine soldiers.
