On May 15th, 1116 the emperor Henry V acknowledged some legal and commercial prerogatives to the “concives” - the fellow citizens of Bologna, by means of a “diploma”. This charter, together with other documents, can be considered the main steps of Comune di Bologna genesis.
Chris Wickham - Professor of Medieval History at the Oxford University and Fellow of All Souls College - is one of the most important academic of Italian Cities’ pre-communes and Communes period. His Lection Magistralis - at Aula Absidale di Santa Lucia, on Thursday, October 20, will analyse the history of Comune di Bologna origins from a European perspective.
The event is part of the programme for the celebrations of the 9th Centenary of Comune di Bologna – Concives 1116-2016 and is organize in collaboration with Università di Bologna as part of Festa Internazionale della Storia.
