La Bohème opens the Opera Season 2018 of Teatro Comunale di Bologna. The conductor is Michele Mariotti. New staging by Graham Vick, scenery and costumes by Richard Hudson.
The world premiere performance of La bohème was in Turin on the 1st February 1896 at the Teatro Regio, conducted by the young Arturo Toscanini. Puccini was inspired by the Verdi's last operas and set a more free musical structure to the singers between their recitatives and arias in order to reach a more realistic result.
