At Complesso del Baraccano from 10 December 2017 to 7 January 2018 a small exhibition about the meaning of toys in the '40s and '50s, when the presents were a privilege of few children and the production was often artisanal and local. The title of the exhibition La Befana vien di notte... quando i giocattoli erano doni preziosi (The Befana comes at nights... when toys were precious presents) takes inspiration from the historic shop F.lli Rossi in Bologna. The shop was located in via D’Azeglio and it had been selling toys for almost a century, till the end of the ‘90s, cashing in more for the presents of the Epifany than for those of Christmas. The exhibition features tin toy cars, planes, trains, dolls, and miniature kitchens dating back over 70 years, which make people consider how at that time toys were condidered as precious objects by the children, who could merely receive them on special occasions.
