The project Sonografia by Jacopo Mazzonelli focuses on the musical sign considered as a resounding alphabet. The works on show at Museo internazionale e biblioteca della musica concentrate on the origin of the musical compositions, paying attention on the nature of the instruments. ABCDEFG (2016-2017) is the main work of the exhibition. It consists of seven upright pianos from the early 20th century, modified by the artist in order to reduce their sound capacity to just one of the seven notes of the scale. By this project, Jacopo Mazzonelli makes people imagine the sounds of the whole silent collection of the museum, also redefining its nature. On Saturday, February 3rd at 9pm, for ART CITY White Night, the composer Matteo Franceschini is going to perform ABCDEFG [A Tuned Sculpture]. Sonografia is curated by Chiara Ianeselli and promoted by ART CITY Bologna in collaboration with Istituzione Bologna Musei | Museo internazionale e biblioteca della musica, Galleria Giovanni Bonelli, Paolo Maria Deanesi Gallery.
