The municipal library of Archiginnasio hosts "Il Fronte in Corsia. Il Rizzoli nella retrovia della Grande guerra", an exhibition to present the project of enhancing the historical archive of the First World War of the Istituto Ortopedico Rizzoli di Bologna. Some medical records from the period of the Great War, the photographs of soldiers, the anatomical drawings and the notes of doctors of the time are on display in the Anatomical Theatre Hall of the Archiginnasio and in part of the opposite quadriportal. Through a particular installation, some medical objects of the time, and especially the first prostheses can be seen. These represent the great innovation that the IOR (Rizzoli Orthopedic Institute) under the guidance of Professor Vittorio Putti made to the care of many wounded. Visitors can enter into the years of World War I, approaching the soldiers, the doctors and the discoveries of the early '900 thanks to the wealth of historical material, which contains details and narratives of the event that caused the trauma, news on the diagnosis and on the therapy and also a kind of diary of the clinical course following the discharge from hospital. To live in other words, even if for a short time, like a journey over time, back of 100 years.
