From May 16 to June 14, 2015, on Saturday and Sunday guided visits at the Specola Tower, the astronomical tower built at the beginning of 18th-century to house the Institute of Sciences. It hosts the tools used by the astronomers for their observations and studies, such as astrolabes, armillary spheres, astronomical quadrants, earth and sky globes, ancient nautical maps (for instance the earth map by Matteo Ricci), 18th and 19th century telescopes, pendulum clocks, and much more. Particularly interesting the two "multi mirror" telescopes by Horn-d’Arturo. The visit ends with the extraordinary panorama of the city from the spiral staircase.
Visits are in Italian only and last approx. 1 hour. (€ 5 each participant – Free for children up to 6). It is necessary to be there 10 minutes before the starting time of the visit. A previous reservation is requires on www.amicimuseiateneo.it/project/visite-guidate-al-museo-della-specola
