The Association Bologna per le Arti pays homage to the painter and sculptor Giovanni Romagnoli (Faenza 1893 – Bologna 1976) with a major retrospective curated by Stella Ingino.
The exhibition, which will take place at Sala d’Ercole, Manica Lunga and Sala Farnese inside Palazzo D’Accursio, reconstructs the artistic career of the painter through paintings and sculptures coming from museums and private collections: a rich selection – curated by the scientific committee of the Association-, enrichened by the presence of numerous and significant unpublished works, in order to tell “an unusual artist, far from cultural and artistic debates of his own epoque, whose works, between dream and reality, look suspended in time”.

The exhibition is enrichened by a special section where the private letters and the shots of the great photographer Nino Migliori show the most intimate and secret side of Romagnoli.
Many works come from loans by MAMbo – the Modern Art Museum of Bologna, the Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio in Bologna and the Banca Cassa di Risparmio in Bologna.
During the exhibition, inside Cappella Farnese will be organized the “Cultural Dialogues at Palazzo D'Accursio”, a series of meetings and conferences with the participation of teachers, art critics, curators and experts that will investigate Giovanni Romagnoli's poetry and will reconstruct his own personal and artistic experience throughout more than 50 years of activity - DOWNLOAD THE PROGRAMME (in Italian)

Organized with the collaboration of the City Council of Bologna, the exhibition has got the sponsorship of the Ministry of Heritage and Culture, of the Region Emilia- Romagna, of the Province of Bologna and the Fine Arts Academy of Bologna.
