Built between 1712 and 1726 on Palazzo Poggi to house the Specola of the Institute of Sciences in Bologna, the tower is now home of the Museo della Specola. It hosts the tools used by the astronomers for their observations and studies.
On the occasion of the European Heritage Days 2017 the Soprintendenza Archeologia, belle arti e paesaggio di Bologna and the Sistema Museale di Ateneo of the University of Bologna organize guided visits at the Museo della Specola, in Italian and English. After the rooms of the museum housing globes, telescopes, clocks, armillary spheres, nautical and topographic tools, the visits end with the extraordinary view over the city skyline from the observatory terrace
