The exhibit Da Cimabue a Morandi has a natural expansion to Palazzo Albergati in Zola Predosa.  Actually, the extraordinary frescoes decorating the majestic palace commissioned by the Marquis Girolamo Albergati are one of the most important and best  preserved examples of the great Bologna decoration art in the 17th and 18th centuries. The first two series in the rooms on the main floor of the eastern wing made by Angelo Michele Colonna and Giacomo Alboresi (1665-67) as well as those in the western wing by Giovanni Antonio Burrini and Marco Antonio Chiarini (1681-84) are contemporary to the palace construction.
Whereas the decorations by Vittorio Maria Bigari and Stefano Orlandi in other two rooms on the main floor date at mid-18th  century (1748-50).
The last two series of frescoes decorating the rooms on the second floor and on the ground floor were made between  1780 and 1790 by Prospero Pesci.

DA CIMABUE A MORANDI. FELSINA PITTRICE

Seven centuries of art, with 180 works made by artists from Bologna or that are permanently on show in the city, coming from private and public collections. Works from Cimabue to Morandi selected and reinterpreted by Vittorio Sgarbi. On this special occasion  they are all gathered in a single location, Palazzo Fava, in those rooms where Ludovico, Agostino and Annibale Carracci were asked to make their splendid fresco decorations in 1584 by the Count Filippo Fava.

The exhibition is particularly dedicated to Roberto Longhi, referring to the researches and to the theory of the famous critic of art. Yet, it is also a journey through the history of Italian art from the end of the 13th to the 20th century.

The exhibition is curated by Vittorio Sgarbi and promoted by the Genus Bononiae Musei nella Città, with the support of Fondazione Cassa Risparmio in Bologna.
