Baroque music between Seville and Bologna
Oratorio di San Colombano
9 April 2016

After the positive experience of 2015, the exchange project dedicated to baroque music between students of the Music Conservatory of Bologna and Seville is coming back again.

As a result of a three full day seminar and rehearsals, it will be possible to enjoy the final concert on  Saturday, April 9, 2016  at 5 p.m. in San Colombano Oratory.

Under the leadership of teachers such as Enrico Gatti (baroque violin), and Daniele Salvatore, (recorder), the Baroque Ensemble of the Music Conservatory G.B. Martini of Bologna will perform along with the Quinteto Abdelazer of Seville formed by violinist Ángela Rodríguez and Alba Gema Catalán Manzanon, Rebeca Barea Soriano (viola), Sergio Garrido Mariotte (cello) and José Miguel Jiménez Román (harpsichord).

With the collaboration of Silvia Rambaldi (harpsichord), Gemma Bertagnoli (baroque singing), Igino Conforzi (baroque trumpet), and Francesca Santi (soprano), Italian and Spanish students will focus on music by Henry Purcell, Vivaldi, Antonio Baskets and Johan Joachim Agrell.

Bolognese students will return the visit next June, joining the education programme in Seville and performing on June 21 for the European Day of Music celebrations.

The initiative is due to AMANT (Academia de Música Antigua, Universidad de Sevilla), an education programme for young musicians organized by the Orquesta Barroca and the University of Seville. It is directed to young talents enrolled in the Music Conservatory “Manuel Castillo” in their last two years and offers a rich schedule of classes, workshops, conferences and master-classes focused on Baroque music.

Not forgetting that both Bologna and Seville hold respective titles as UNESCO Creative Cities of Music.
