10th edition of Bilbolbul, the international comics festival, in Bologna from November 24 to 27, with the preview the week before. As usual a festival rich in exhibitions going on till the end of the year, and featuring works by famous artists, as well as by young talents of the Italian and international scene, all engaged in public meetings, workshops, dedicated sessions, performances, round-table discussions.
Among the guests of 2016 edition, Chris Ware, one of the most famous and influential contemporary comic book illustrators, is the protagonist of an exhibition at Fondazione del Monte di Bologna e Ravenna - "Il Palazzo della Memoria" (26 November - 7 January), one of the few exhibits in Europe dedicated to the American artist. The event is organized with the support of Fondazione del Monte di Bologna e Ravenna and in collaboration with Galerie Martel. On show original plates and drawings taken from Jimmy Corrigan, the Smartest Kid on Earth and Building Stories. The exhibit will also feature Ware’s art development from his beginnings to the most famous works.
Author of BilBOlBul 2016 official image, the cartoonist and illustrator Marco Corona is the protagonist of a solo exhibition at Pinacoteca Nazionale di Bologna, "Il Canguro Pugilatore" (24 November -18 December). At Accademia di Belle Arti the exhibition “L’arcobaleno e il nero, Nella fiaba e nella Storia, nell’avventura e nella cronaca” (25 November – 20 January) features the works by Anna Brandoli and Renato Queirolo.
The giant of illustration in America and worldwide David Wiesner is another exceptional guest of BBB2016, with the exhibition at Cineteca di Bologna “E se fosse tutto normale?” (25 November - 27 January).
The list of festival guests includes many other Italian and contemporary authors, such as Gipi, Elena Guidolin, Tuono Pettinato, Federico Manzone, Gabriel Delmas,Toccafondo and Laurent Moreau.
