To celebrate its 40th anniversary Arte Fiera presents the exhibition project “Arte Fiera 40” that traces the past 40 years of the Fiera and offers a vision of the coming 40 ones, by narrating the story  of the Italy’s leading event for modern and contemporary art, since its foundation. The exhibition, curated by Giorgio Verzotti and Claudio Spadoni, develops across two locations, with works by over sixty artists.

At Pinacoteca Nazionale in Bologna the exhibition “Arte Fiera 40. Lo sguardo delle Gallerie sulla grande arte italiana” (Great Italian art as seen by art galleries) presents  a selection of the most important works from the Galleries, with works by Burri, Carla Accardi, Afro, Vincenzo Agnetti, Getulio Alviani, Stefano Arienti, Enrico Baj, Pier Paolo Calzolari, Felice Casorati, Enrico Castellani, Gianni Colombo, Enzo Cucchi, Dadamaino, Flavio Favelli, Giuseppe Capogrossi, Giorgio De Chirico, Nicola De Maria, Filippo De Pisis, Piero Dorazio, Lucio Fontana, Piero Gilardi, Giorgio Griffa, Renato Guttuso, Marcello Jori, Jannis Kounellis, Piero Manzoni, Fausto Melotti, Giorgio Morandi, Ennio Morlotti, Luigi Ontani, Mimmo Paladino, Giulio Paolini, Gianni Piacentino, Michelangelo Pistoletto, Concetto Pozzati, Salvo, Alberto Savinio, Mario Schifano, Mario Sironi, Sissi, Ettore Spalletti, Grazia Toderi, Franco Vaccari, Emilio Vedova, Gilberto Zorio.
This exhibition celebrates the 40 years of Arte Fiera with a review summarizing the main exponents of four decades of artistic production in Italy as documented by the editions of Arte Fiera. The historical period goes from the years of Morandi up to the 2000s: a review of great masters, founders of new movements and lone pioneers pushing the boundaries of contemporary art, with artists of recognised quality that will become protagonists of the near future. In order to offer a glance towards the future, all of the galleries involved in the 40th edition of Arte Fiera have been invited to include works by artists under 40 years of age. A special committee will select the best of these works which will be then exhibited to the Pinacoteca alongside that of the great masters.

At MAMbo – the Museum of Modern Art Bologna, the section Arte Fiera 40. Storia di una Collezione” (Story of a collection) presents a selection of works acquired by BolognaFiere during the many editions of Arte Fiera. On show works by Irma Blank, Alighiero Boetti, Francesco Candeloro, Elisabetta Di Maggio, Chiara Dynys, Tano Festa, Pietro Fortuna, Chiara Fumai, Sergio Limonta, Nicola Melinelli, Aldo Mondino, Maria Morganti, Gioberto Noro, Luca Vitone. Together with some of the undisputed masters of the Seventies, also artists from the Nineties who are now acknowledged also abroad, as well as exponents of the new generation, to underline the great importance that Arte Fiera has always dedicated to the promotion of research and experimentation by young artists too.
One of the works of the exhibition - “Teoria dei rivelati” by Simone Pellegrini (2013, mixed technique on framed paper), is on show at the Bologna Airport: the
