26th edition of AngelicA  (Bologna and Modena, 5>8 + 12 + 14>15 + 18 + 20>22 + 24>28 May 2016), the International music festival which best represents all forms of music in non-conventional setting and that freely uses many materials offered by the different music traditions.

The festival opens on Thursday, May 5 at Centro di Ricerca Musicale / Teatro San Leonardo in Bologna, with Ellen Fullman presenting his long string instrument in a solo concert first - The Watch, reprise (2015), and on Friday 6 in duo with Konrad Sprenger. Both concerts are curated by John Duncan.

The rich calendar of AngelicA 26 goes on until May 28th, involving different locations in Bologna - Teatro San Leonardo, Concervatorio G.B. Martini, Basilica di Santa Maria dei Servi,  as well as the Teatro Pavarotti in Modena.
Here some of the appointments in the programme: Fred Frith, protagonist of three concerts both as author and performer, and of a workshop about improvisation; the music by Pauline Oliveros, James Tenney and  Philip Corner performed by the Orchestra del Teatro Comunale di Bologna under the conduction of Tonino Battista (closing concert on May 28th at Basilica di Santa Maria dei Servi); the unpredictable and “revolutionary” musicians of MEV - Musica Elettronica Viva celebrating their 50th anniversary of activity this year, who will meet the American accordionist and composer Pauline Oliveros;
Besides, the Ensemble Hodos performing different Philip Corner’s work; the Norwegian band Spunk that celebrates its twentieth anniversary, made up of four of the most innovative musicians - Maja S. K. Ratkje, Hild Sofie Tafjord, Lene Grenager, and Kristin Andersen; an original work composed by John Duncan especially for the Coro Arcanto.
