Palazzo D’Accursio and Palazzo Re Enzo host the most important gathering of transgender activists in Europe from June 2nd to 5th -  organized by MIT  Movimento Identità Transessuale and by the European network TGEU Transgender Europe, with the support of Comune di Bologna.

What it is
Since 2005, the European Transgender Council has become the core of the activists discussing on trans people human rights and equality in Europe. The biennial council contributes to the growth, the development and the strengthening of the transgender activism in Europe.

Three days of workshops aiming to develop the ability and the knowledge about policy and advocacy, both for the individuals, and for the participating organizations and associations.
The event is the occasion to define common strategies in Europe of the transgender movement and to strengthen the network of all the active realities fighting against gender discrimination.

Throughout the TGEU days, MIT has organized many initiatives in Bologna (full programme will be available in the coming weeks on the MIT  Facebook page). To inaugurate them the reading Favolose Narranti at Cassero LGBT, on April 30th.
A not-to be missed event is the theatre performance Il Sogno e l'Utopia by Porpora Marcasciano (actress and president of MIT), on May 31st – 9pm at Oratorio San Filippo Neri.
 
Participants
Over 300 delegates, international speakers, scientists and leading experts on the themes related with transsexuality.
 
Organization
MIT - Movimento Identità Transessuale. Founded in 1982, MIT is a non-profit organization in Bologna defending and supporting the rights, the wellbeing and the dignity of transsexual and transgender people. In 1994 it created the first clinic specially dedicated to transsexual and transgender people health,  in accordance with the health national system and Regione Emilia Romagna.
TGEU - Transgender Europe. TGEU is a network created 10 years ago. It joins 72 associations in 37 European countries, and has a long experience in the development of projects about the promotion and the defence of the fundamental rights of trans people.
